That’s a song I feel like writing or something I feel like writing (like a blog?) or maybe it’s just something I feel like saying a lot. It just rolls off the tongue. And it’s true. Sure it may sound vulgar, but isn’t it just as vulgar to withhold basic care from the people who work to the point of near slavery to keep this country running, to keep themselves and their families running? Indeed it is. It’s disgusting that this necessary ingredient is missing.

I talked to my dad the other day and found out that he sold his cottage, the family’s cottage though thankfully to my brother. He sold it because 1. It was becoming too hard for him to maintain and 2. He needed the money for his medical bills. My dad has had prostate cancer for roughly five years now. He’s gone from doing everything as naturally as possible to having to have radiation and now chemotherapy. He also has to take pills for this and that and shots to keep his blood from clotting and god knows what else. He told me that his bills come to an average of $10,000.00 a year. TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR FOR ONE MAN TO TRY AND STAY ALIVE.

Sound absurd? Yeah, I thought so too. That’s one man, now think about all the other millions of people out there doing the same thing or worse, dying because they can’t afford the basic help they need. All that a lot of these people can do is sit and pray, sometimes on the side of the street on a piece of cardboard, while the powers that be basically say “It’s true, we really don’t give a fuck about you. Even though you voted us into office and you work so diligently we’d much rather see you die than help you out. You may think we’re helping you out because you can get any pill you want quite easily, but really that’s just to pacify you. And yes, while we’re watching you die we are in fact going to take the money that could save you and go kill a bunch of other people too because at this point we are practically blind to anything good and true. We will now say that we’re sorry for this even though we’re not because we can’t throw away a perfect chance to lie no matter how small it is. And yes, you sorry sons of drugged up bitches will believe us.” That is the truth they speak behind whatever it is that comes out of the rotten holes in their faces. At least that’s what I hear.

Why is the simplest and easiest solution so often the hardest to see, so hard to grasp? Why can’t the greater public see how screwed up and backwards and filled with filth the system is and rise against it? We deserve better than this and not just Americans but everyone. We deserve more health care, we deserve better working conditions, we deserve affordable education, less debt, cleaner living, a cleaner planet, less fear, and more love. There’s far more truth and beauty out there than what is shown, known and seen.

People need to start speaking up for themselves and for their brothers and sisters world wide in greater masses than there currently are. People need to see that things are not right, that it’s not right to go to a doctor and pay outrageous prices for pills that only mask the problem, but do not solve it. That’s what this country does, it covers things up, it’s pro at distracting the greater public from the cataclysmic events taking place. We all intrinsically know this, we see what’s going on, but too many just don’t want to believe it or are too afraid to do anything or simply don’t know where to begin. Because the “omnipotent government” fails to get to the heart and the core of problems so do we.

Remember “Turn on, tune in, drop out”? Timothy Leary? Well these days its turn on the television, tune in to the media play and drop out of reality. Take the pills to cure the ills and believe that everything is all right. It would be nice if people could wake up and see that the pile of deceitful shit they are sitting in isn’t really going to sprout roses and it would be even better if they could see that they don’t have to be sitting in that pile at all. If they could see and believe that everyone deserves a much better standard of living than is currently provided then that would be a beautiful start. Everyone has a voice and it’s time once again to start raising it.

Thank you.
